Jay Seabrook is a collagraph printmaker producing landscapes that are sometimes colourful, sometimes dark. She is based in Rutland and has an ancient press in her home studio. She is inspired by the beautiful Rutland and Leicestershire countryside together with frequent visits to the North Norfolk coast. The collagraph process can be unpredictable and Jay enjoys the textures and marks that appear in her work. By masking out small areas and then using watercolour, the resulting prints also include some detail and focus.
Imagined landscapes featuring hard to reach buildings, woodland, stormy seas and remote cottages are a recurring theme. Jay is a very active member of the Leicester Print Workshop and uses their lovely old presses for larger work.
