Jonathan Rolfe has been producing screenprints as a member of Spike Print Studio in Bristol since 2016. He uses mainly acrylic inks on paper.
Jonathan has a keen interest in architecture and urban decay; he enjoys the repetition present in large-scale buildings and the small differences therein. Halftones and the four-colour process are frequently present in his work. He is exploring the way in which halftones appear to show more detail than is actually present.
Jonathan's work is photographically driven, with images often composed from several photographs utilising a range of halftoning effects. However he also enjoys monoprinting for its freedom of expression. His latest project experiments with emulsion extracted from photographs and overlayed onto screenprints.
