Lesley Brooks has been a member of the Leicester Print Workshop since 2006. She is also an elected member of the Leicester Society of Artists. Participation in these two organisations has been enormously beneficial to her and great fun.
Lesley is inspired by gardens, dwellings, light and colour. The relatively simple form of relief printing, using cut and etched linoleum, has held her interest for many years.
Line etching and shape etching (using the aquatint process) to make an intaglio plate for printmaking is also a compelling technique for her. The creative possibilities for both methods are endless and she enjoys both equally.
Her bold coloured lino prints are made by using multiple plates (like jigsaws) and building a story. The etchings are illustrations of a small moment in time, quieter, but just as precious.
